MISSION

​

La Raza Centro Legal's mission is to provide high quality, free legal representation to the Latino community and other low-income immigrant families, as the most trusted partner in legal services.

La Raza Centro Legal provides excellent direct legal services by licensed attorneys and competent staff to ensure that poverty, immigration status, disability, language, sexual orientation, or gender identity will not be an impediment to justice. Founded in 1973 by Chicano law students, we are proud to continue the legacy of our founders. We represent families located primarily in the counties of San Francisco and San Mateo

  • Cultural Competency: Our culturally competent legal team partners with clients to obtain positive case outcomes, empowering clients to be self-sufficient.

  • Leadership: We are an incubator of future leaders in the legal field. We value the cultivation and mentorship of first-generation lawyers, immigrant future lawyers; aspiring future lawyers who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and others who wish to join the legal profession.

  •  Inclusion: We strive to create an environment in which all are welcome and treated with dignity and respect. We are committed to opposing systemic barriers by providing equitable access to attorneys and to justice.

  • Integrity: La Raza Centro Legal is trusted legal aid that families can turn to and depend on, now and in future generations. Our staff diligently pursues legal cases while collaborating with clients We listen to our community's needs, to overcome barriers in a just and effective manner.
